Urbaltour Workshop – July 10, 2023 Highland Institute Kohima (Nagaland)

After several months of fieldwork on the tourism and hospitality sector in Kohima, the local URBALTOUR research (Akumtong Imchen, Bertrand Lefebvre, Rovithono Yhome) presented some of their initial findings. Held at the Highland Institute (https://highlandinstitute.org/), this first dissemination workshop was an opportunity to exchange with tourism professionals, researchers and representatives of Kohima’s civil society. The rapid growth of tourism facilities in Kohima, the recent surge of home-stays in neighboring villages and their impact on the local economy were discussed. The workshop provided an opportunity to make new contacts and to reflect on the second phase of surveys to be carried out in the coming months among tourists and tourism stakeholders in Kohima and the neighboring villages.

A second dissemination workshop is planed for 2024.
